Hello! My name is Kaitlyn Tate and I am a couple and wedding photographer. I first started my photography adventure when I was 10 years old when my dad gifted me a camera for Christmas. It was the cutest turquoise Nikon point and shoot and I absolutely loved it. I took pictures of everything. From the blooming flowers in my front yard, to my younger brother’s riding around on their bikes. As soon as I reached middle school, I started taking photography classes. My friends would get all dressed up and we’d have a photoshoot in the front yard and then I’d put tacky, saturated edits on all my pictures with silly captions and post them on Facebook. I wasn’t very good at it, but it was my favorite thing. My senior year of high school I went into a local photography studio to have a good friend who worked there, take some senior pictures of me. She was the manager at the time and offered me a job. I interviewed right there and started a week later. 2 years later, I was offered the job of assistant manager at one of their new locations that was getting ready to open. That Christmas my dad gifted me my current camera, a Canon 6D and 6 months later, I made the decision to quit my job and pursue my own photography business. That summer I shot my very first wedding and it’s been non-stop ever since. I met my husband working at that photography studio and we now have become an amazing wedding photographer/videographer duo. We now have a sweet baby girl who, trust me, gets her picture taken on the daily, but I know that she’ll appreciate it when she’s older. I have pushed myself and tested my limits as a photographer. I have gotten completely outside of my comfort zone and tried new things. I have sat on the couch for hours while I edit pictures, trying to get the edit just right. I have grown so much in the past 12 years as a photographer and I know that I’m just going to keep learning new things and pushing my limits. I love everything about what I do and I’m so passionate about the art I am creating and the memories I am capturing. I’m so honored to do what I love every single day.
